•    Printing and Deforestation: Many assume that printing contributes to deforestation, but that isn’t true. Between 1990 and 2022, the United States saw an increase of 18 million acres in forestry, equaling 1,200 NFL football fields sprouting daily. This is largely due to the responsible stewardship of many family-owned farms certified by organizations like FSC.
•    Emissions from Paper Manufacturing: Another widespread myth is that paper manufacturing significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. But the paper and pulp industry contribute less than 1% to the US total emissions.
•    Water Usage in Paper Manufacturing: While the paper manufacturing process does require substantial water, about 90% of the used water is cleaned and recycled back into the environment. Only about 1% of the used water remains in the final product.
•    Wasteful Paper Products: Most people view paper products as wasteful, but paper is the most recycled material in the US and can be recycled 5-7 times before it requires fresh wood pulp. Most of the paper we use has around 10% post-consumer waste.
•    Necessity of Recycled Paper: The belief that only recycled paper should be used is a half-truth. While paper can be recycled, it does need fresh wood pulp to maintain its strength and durability after so many uses.
•    Dying Paper Industry: Paper is being viewed as a dying industry, but it continues to play a vital role in our daily lives as it is a renewable resource.
